Let’s do the following agenda:

- Let’s get Visual

- Oral Presentation Preview
- Pass back…
“How to Lie With Statistics”
Huff’s “How to Lie with Statistics” is on Canvas, so I expect that you read it already. Below are some old images that might still be useful for this discussion on distortion. When do visuals lie? What should you do to make sure you’re accurately representing the facts in a visual?
- Averages: mean, median, mode
- Pictorial representations
What’s going on in the chart below? Does it represent twice as much?
Maybe we have time for this old PowerPoint.
Keep Up with the Syllabus
Read Ch. 11 in Tebeaux and Dragga for tomorrow, 8/02. We’ll catch up on whatever we need to and go over presentations. I’m also giving you time to work on your portfolios, so use that time wisely so, if you aren’t in class, you’re telling me you are ready to present on when the first group goes. Your Portfolios are due on Thursday, 8/03, and we’ll most likely cover presentations then.
