Ellen McIntyre has been the Dean of the College of Education at UNC Charlotte since July 2013. She is thrilled to lead such an impressive faculty and is eager to develop the College into one of the best in the country. Previously to this appointment, Ellen spent six years at NC State University as Department Head and Interim Associate Dean, and before that she was Professor and University Scholar at the University of Louisville.
Ellen’s research interests are in elementary reading instruction, especially for struggling readers and teacher education. Recently she was awarded a $3.1M grant from the National Science Foundation to study an elementary STEM-focused teacher preparation program.
Ellen is married to Bill Morison and has three adult step children and five grandchildren. When she has time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, hiking and exploring beautiful Charlotte.
