James Bird
Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Superintendency Concentration (EDD Program)
James Bird has been on the faculty of Educational Leadership since 2006. He served as a school administrator for 31 years, the last 16 as the district superintendent of the Avondale Schools in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Jim has taught leadership and principalship classes at the Master’s level and organizational theory and school finance classes at the doctoral level. He has supervised student internship classes at both levels.
Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse and his Master’s and doctoral degrees from the Ohio State University.
At the departmental level, Jim has served as Program Director of doctoral studies and interim chair.
