Dr. Vivian Lord is professor and Director of the Mediation Program. Dr. Lord is a psychologist who teaches courses in Mediation, Interviewing, Program Evaluation and Planning, and Police Issues and Procedures at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Lord also provides expert consulting and testimony in the area of suicide by cop.Dr. Lord’s research and sources for external funding primarily focus on policing areas such as police selection and training, suicide by cop, comparative law enforcement systems, cold case investigation units and criminal justice education areas such as education in ethics and retention of transfer students.Dr. Lord is the author of three books: Interviewing in Criminal Justice: Victims, Clients, Witnesses, and Suspects, Challenges for Women Considering a Law Enforcement Career: A Guide for Preparing and Succeeding and Policing and Suicide by Cop: Inducing the Police to Shoot and more than 40 journal articles, academic book chapters, and technical reports in her areas of research. She with a colleague was awarded the MacNamara Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences for their research on ethics education for criminal justice majors. Dr. Lord also was awarded the U.S. Department of Justice Citizen Volunteer Service Award for her work with cold case investigations.
