I study aging and well-being throughout life from the perspective of public health. My research aim is to reduce disability and help people flourish and live longer in better health. My most recent research is:
- Optimism, future orientation, self-efficacy, and active life expectancy.
- Effects of unemployment on health.
- Lifetime health effects of growing up in adverse circumstances.
- Associations of education with disability and life expectancy.
I also enjoy teaching. Here are some of the PhD students I have mentored. Some of their research publications are here.
