Funding research is critical in science, partly to support time commitments, but mostly to be able to support graduate students, conference travel, and publication fees.

General Research (competitive)
4. 1/2015 to 5/2016: UNC Charlotte Faculty Research Grant, supported lightning research by UNC Charlotte Masters Student Thomas Winesett (funding program is internal to UNC Charlotte)
3. 9/2014 to 9/2018: Collaborative Research: Testing Hypotheses About Fire Using Data Syntheses and Fire Modeling, National Science Foundation Geography and Spatial Sciences (NSF-GSS-Magi-grad-student-ad, NSF announcement, UNC Charlotte announcement), supported research by Brian Magi and UNC Charlotte INES PhD student Alex Schaefer.
2. 4/2014 to 2/2015: North Carolina Space Grant New Investigator Program, partial funding to support Masters research by Thomas Winesett (Link to funding program)
1. 1/2012 to 1/2013: UNC Charlotte Faculty Research Grant, supported seed data collection related to hand-held air quality instruments (funding program is internal to UNC Charlotte)
